About Echelon Spokes and Slopes
Echelon opened in July 2005. It was through a love for cycling and skiing that Echelon was formed. Our goal is to provide our customers with service that is beyond what they have come to expect. Our friendly attitude and our love for the sports are what drive us to share our enthusiasm with all who enter our store. Our philosophy is that we all love the sports and this bond is what makes us a family. We are here to share our knowledge and passion for cycling, skiing, snowboarding and snow shoeing, and in turn to make your participation safe and more enjoyable.
JD Whitney
Started bicycle racing at the age of thirteen. His first road ride was 100 miles, with no training, using a mountain bike, within a group of road riders. He was hooked! (We’re not sure why that did it but it did!) He started working on his own bicycle because he could not find a mechanic who would take him seriously and fine tune his bike for racing. He became team captain and head mechanic forProctor Academy
Marti Whitney
Marti has had a love for skiing and bicycling for more than 50 years. She competed in ski racing through college, gained her Level 3 Ski Instructors credentials, was a ski coach and served on the National Ski Patrol. Marti and her husband Dick (who died in 1998) introduced their son, JD, and daughter, Michelle, to skiing and biking at a very early age. JD loved accompanying his mom on her bike, in a child seat, on the many rides around the Gettysburg Battlefields. Recently Marti and JD enjoyed a two day trip to Fruita and climbed theColorado National Monument
Marti has owned a couple shops prior to this one, and her in-laws have been in the ski and bike retail industries for over forty years. Taking care of her customers has always been her number one concern. We are here to help you have the safest and most enjoyable time whether on your bike, skis, snowshoes or snowboards.
Marti enjoys leading Echelon Spokes & Slopes Club rides, which includes a ride tailor made for women. Come out and join us. We would welcome you.
